HistoryMEDMARK was created in 1995 as the exclusive Middle East partner of Lexmark International. (Lexmark is a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of printing and imaging solutions for offices and homes). The role of MEDMARK was to develop Lexmark's Middle East printer business and also to carry out the functions of a regional office. The first objective of the company was to enhance the network of business partners inherited from IBM's partners, GBM and SBM who were the original Lexmark Distributors. This network has been expanded with an emphasis on quality partners. A Regional Distribution Center was established in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai in 1995. With the introduction of low cost inkjet and laser printers and the subsequent growth in unit sales of printers and print cartridges, the Distribution Center activities have become a key part of MEDMARKS's operations. Over the ten years since the Distribution Center was established, the internal and external processes have been enhanced to keep pace with the growth in demand. In 2005 more than half a million items passed through the Distribution Center In 2002 a solutions and consultancy division was created to provide Middle East companies with a source of specialized printing expertise. This division markets Lexmark document management solutions, along with other utilities such as Watch Doc software from Doxense, which enables companies to accurately track their printing and associated costs by user and department. When MEDMARK was formed it was always envisaged that Lexmark would create a Middle East office when the business in the Middle East reached a level to support a regional presence. Lexmark decided at the end of 2005 that this point had been reached and are in the process of establishing a direct presence in the Middle East. With the opening of the Lexmark Middle East office, MEDMARK's status changed to a Lexmark wholesaler. |
